Forgiveness - It's About YOU

9/3/2016

Picture
Picture
'We have all had situations in life where we have felt hurt, frustrated, mistreated by someone’s words or actions. Whether verbal, emotional or physical the situation has left us with feelings of anger, frustration or hurt. We hold on to these things for days, months or years. Sometimes the offender apologizes and we move on letting the past situation drop. More often though even if we have accepted the apology we still hold on to little pieces of the past hurt. We never fully open back up, we hold our self back never trusting completely. Then there are the situations where an apology is never given, where amends are never made and we hold on to the emotions more fully as they were never released. There are also some situations where the hurt and/or anger is so deep that even with an apology and amends we don’t let it go we hold on fully to those feels and do not allow forgiveness.

Forgiveness is not about the other person. So often we get stuck in the thought that forgiveness is something that we give the other person. We feel that if we grant them forgiveness we are saying that what happened is ok, that we do not have hurt, anger or frustration about what occurred, that we remove them from blame and accept the situation as it is. The reality is that forgiveness is about releasing your feelings and emotions about the situation. It is not about providing absolution to the other person but about granting yourself permission to move on and above the situation.

Picture
We have no control over another's actions, words or behaviors. We do however have control over our reactions. Granting forgiveness and letting go of those reactions, taking the power back and not allowing the hurt, anger and frustration to weigh you down is the freedom you grant yourself. Holding on to those feelings, placing blame and waiting for someone to validate your feelings with an apology leaves you tethered to them. Your feelings do not hurt the other person, they hurt you. Holding on to them is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. Release the negative emotions allow forgiveness of the situation and heal yourself.  Cut the connection caused by this situation. Make a conscious decision to let go of the feelings and move forward. This does not mean that you should forget what happened. Everything that happens helps shape and direct our life paths. Find the lesson in the situation instead and move forward.

Moving beyond the situation is as essential as letting go of the negative feelings associated with it. Each situation is going to look different for every person. Sometimes moving on means seeing clearly that this person no longer has a purpose in your life and moving apart in different directions. Or it could be that this situation is providing you an opportunity to claim your power. If this is a person who will continue to be in your life perhaps this is a chance for you to speak up and let the other person know how you would like to be treated. Remember we teach people how to treat us. It is much easier to claim your power and speak your truth when we are not bogged down by the negative emotions, forgiveness grants us that freedom. Moving on can also be a lesson in trust. For some of us it is hard to let people in and be open with them again after a past situation. Remember that we are all human and none of us our perfect. Forgiveness releases us from the emotional hurt but it takes a great deal of inner strength to keep the walls down and not retreat behind them again. Move on by maintaining your open heart.

Don’t let Forgiveness be a road block in your life. Don’t let the negative emotions bog you down and keep you focused on the past. Grant yourself the freedom of forgiveness, learn the lesson of the situation and allow yourself to grow and flourish while moving on.

Selenite – the Wonder Crystal

7/1/2016

Picture
Selenite is a very unique and powerful crystal. It is a form of gypsum and can be found in the USA as well as on most continents. It is a relatively common crystal and in it’s natural form it ranges in color from clear transparent to a milky white. Raw Selenite is fragile and it is not uncommon for pieces to flake off. Polished Selenite has a smooth pearly appearance often containing windows and rainbows.
Selenite has many metaphysical and spiritual applications. It is a unique crystal in that it cannot hold any negativity. As such it has many wonderful and beneficial uses.
  1. Crystal Cleansing - Most crystals will absorb the energy around it and as such needs to be cleaned or cleared from time to time. Since Selenite is an exception to this it is a perfect tool to clear and cleanse your other crystals. Place the crystals on or near the Selenite and let it absorb and dissolve the negative energy.
  2. Meditation – Selenite helps instill a sense of deep peace and calm. Aiding in clearing the mind and allowing for meditation to occur. Just my holding Selenite a peaceful calm will wash over you.
  3. Protection – Since Selenite absorbs and dispels negativity it is a great stone for protection. Click here to read about a protection meditation done with Selenite. Beyond personal protection it can also be used to protect the household and instill a feeling of security, peace and calm in the home. Place a piece of Selenite outside the front door to achieve this goal.
  4. Healing – Selenite promotes healing at the energetic level. It is particularly helpful in aligning the spinal column and aids in increasing flexibility, both physically and emotionally. It has been used to help ward off epileptic seizures as well.

Selenite Meditation for Protection & Shielding

7/1/2016

Picture

Selenite is an amazing crystal that instills peace and calm simply by holding it. It is also a unique stone in that it cannot hold any negative energy instead absorbing and dispelling it.  These attributes make it a perfect stone for protection and shielding. There are many ways to use this stone to help achieve these desired effects. To help get you started I have provided my favorite Selenite Meditation below. This meditation works best in a comfortable relaxing setting but can be done on the go as well depending on your needs.

With a piece of Selenite between your hands take three long deep breaths slowly exhaling and releasing your breath. Focus on your breathing and let everything else melt away. With each inhale draw the crystal toward you and with each exhale slowly pull it away. Feel a sense of calm wash over you as you exhale the negative and release that which does not serve. Repeat until a sense of calm and peacefulness has been achieved.

Holding the Selenite crystal between your hands draw it close to your heart. Close your eyes and visualize the white light that radiates from the crystal. Slowly grow the glowing white aura so that it flows from the crystal into your heart.
Picture

Watch as the white aura encompasses your heart and radiates outward with each heartbeat. Allow the shimmering warm crystal energy to coat your body. Visualize yourself with the glowing energy encasing your body, filling you with a deep sense of calm, peace and security. It ebbs and flows with each breath, matching your internal rhythm.

Draw the energy from the Selenite crystal in your hand pooling and molding it into a solid white shimming ball of energy. Grow the ball until it surrounds you. Allow it to cocoon you within the ball, encasing you all around even digging into the earth below you and the sky above to create an unending barrier.
Picture
Picture

Visualize this barrier crystallizing and hardening to form an unyielding impenetrable shell around you. Watch as negative energy is reflected merely bouncing off of your pearly, shimmering shell casing and dissolving. You are safe, you are protected, you are calm and secure.

As you have performed this visualization meditation and become more familiar with it you will become able to quickly move through the motions in one smooth unending step quickly snapping your protective shell around you.

Embracing the Power of the Monsoon

6/30/2016

Picture
Picture
Thrashing, violent, swirling winds rip and pull at nature, tug at your clothes and sting your eyes. Mountains of earth have been swept up creating a living breathing wall of dust rolling across the land, engulfing everything that it touches in an eerie haze where time slows and the world around melts away. Much like finding yourself in the eye of storm everything is deafeningly silent and oddly peaceful, you are isolated and surrounded all at once. Like everything does, this moment will pass. The wind will keep blowing and move on until it slowly dies out and fades away. While you can you embrace the moment, experience the wonder of nature, connect with the earth swirling around you and disconnect from all your distractions. Even if for only a short moment, you are one with nature. In her powerful forceful way nature has boldly announced Monsoon season is here. Buckle up and enjoy the powerful, refreshing ride that is to come.

Picture
Monsoon season has a special place in my heart. It leaves me in awe at the power and wonder of nature and gives me a deeper feeling of connection. This is a perfect time to embrace the wild unpredictability of the season. Throw your doors open, let yourself free and dance in the rain. Feel the rain hit your face as it drenches and replenishes the earth. Watch the plants thrive and bloom with new vitality. Stand in awe at the amazing, breath taking and startling light and sound shows that dance across the sky.
Picture
How can you make the most of this powerful time of year? How can you embrace the spirit and energy of the season? There are many ways to go about doing it and ultimately you have to trust your instincts, guidance and gut. To get you started though here are my 5 tried and true steps to embracing the Monsoon season.

  1. Disconnect from technology (we don’t want it to get wet anyways) and step outside.
  2. Calm your breathing, clear your mind and open your ears. Listen to the wind whistling in the trees, to the plants swaying and bending to nature’s will. Hear the steady drumming of the rain as it pours from the sky or the quiet pitter patter splat as it slows and drifts away. The heart stopping boom and roar of thunder. Let the sounds of nature surround you and drown out the world.
  3. Close your eyes and turn your face up to the sky. Feel the cool rain roll down your face. Take off your shoes and squish the damp earth between your toes, run through the rain slicked grass.  Reach out and feel the energy sizzle as the lightning strikes. Open your senses.
  4. Smell the damp wet earth as life is poured back into it with every rain drop. Absorb the crisp scent of the wind blowing past your face, the tang of energy just before the lightning illuminates the sky.
  5. With your senses open and in tune with the changes the Monsoon is bringing, focus beyond the physical body. Open your emotions and your spirit to the energy and power swirling around. Ground yourself to the earth and carry yourself away with the wind. Spin, swirl and dance to the beat of the rain syncing your energy flow to the rhythm of the storm.  Let the rain wash over you flushing away the negative, the unnecessary, the worrisome and stressful. Let the water leave you revitalized having poured the energy of nature itself into your soul.
Picture
Embrace the power of nature. Leave yourself refreshed, revitalized and new. Become in tune with the world around you and let your wild spirit free. Enjoy the monsoon while it is here and let it leave you ready to bloom. Come join me and dance for the joy of it, arms flung wide open, swirling, spinning and laughing in the pouring rain.

My Way or the Highway - Road to Disapointment

5/30/2016

Picture
Picture
Tell me if this sounds familiar? You have an event, situation or interaction coming up and you map out in your head exactly how you “know” it is going to play out. You have created this reality of what is to come and placed it in your tidy little box. Expectations have been set, plans have been anticipated, emotions and reaction are at the ready all reliant on things going as you have foreseen. How often do things actually play exactly as you “know” they will? How often were your assumptions completely off base and you were left feeling less than satisfied in what occurred? We are robbing ourselves when we ascribe to this My Way or the Highway mentality. Things did not fit into the tidy little box that I created for this situation and what could have been an amazing experience is now left feeling like it is lacking because of this.

This is a hard lesson for me and I know I cannot be the only one. I am a planner and I enjoy being in control of situations. The Universe provided another wonderful learning opportunity for me and once again I missed the mark. Recently I had family visit from out of town. We don’t get to see each other very often, maybe once every 2-3 years so it was exciting to have this opportunity to reconnect face to face. Since the last time they had visited I had purchased my own home, an accomplishment that I am immensely proud of as it had been something I worked very long and hard to achieve. In my nice tidy little box I had decided how it was going to play out when they came to see us at the house. They were going to ask for a tour, appreciate all of the little decorative details, comment on my bountiful rose garden, explore our hallway of pictures sharing memories, appreciate my design aesthetic and join me in my pride of what I had accomplished. The experience did not go “my way”, what I “knew” would happen did not even come close to reality. They arrived came straight to the dining room, took a seat and did not venture from that spot until they left. They never mentioned the house, my roses or seemed to even take notice of their surroundings.  I fell into the same faulty pattern of My Way or the Highway and allowed this to taint the rest of the evening. I robbed myself of truly embracing and appreciating spending time with them, of interacting and rebuilding connections and just enjoying being with family. I was present and I participated and loved on people but there was this underscore of disappointment and resentment because the experience did not live up to my expectations. I did not allow myself to embrace the moment because I was so focused on what did not happen.

Picture
Reflecting back on this past week’s experiences I know it is time for me to hurry up and learn this lesson so I can stop missing out on embracing the joy of these experiences when they don’t live up to my expectations. I am not in control of so many things in this world and instead of fighting that I am going to embrace it. Let the Universe provide in what is truly the best way for me, appreciate and find the joy in my experiences and throw the box out the window to allow room for things beyond my imagination.  My intention for moving forward is to let go of expectations, trust the Universe, open myself to the infinite possibilities and embrace the journey. Let go of the control and relish in the freedom of living outside the box.

The Universe loves to provide opportunities for us to learn our lessons, if you are stubborn like I can be sometimes those opportunities get less subtle and more like a steam roller until I finally take notice and make changes. So here’s hoping that this can be a subtle reminder for those that need it and save someone from a future 2 X 4 to the face.

A Simple Guide to Your Chakras

4/3/2016

Picture
Picture
Chakras are an ancient concept that originated in India. There are 7 main Chakras which are believed to be focal points or energy centers in our bodies, Crown, Third Eye, Throat, Heart, Solar Plexus, Sacral and Root. The universal energy force, often referred to as Chi, moves and flows through each of the Chakras running down the center of our bodies. When the Chakras are blocked or out of alignment it causes a disruption in the energy flow. This disruption can manifest in a multitude of physical, spiritual and emotional ways. Symptoms usually correspond with the area of the body that the Chakra is located in. For example digestion issues could be a physical symptom of a misalignment or blockage of the Solar Plexus Chakra where as an inability to speak your truth would be an emotional symptom of a misalignment or blockage of the Throat Chakra. There are many ways to bring your Chakras back into alignment. For minor adjustments using stones such as Kyanite can help snap your Chakras back into alignment just by holding or wearing it. To help bring specific Chakras back into alignment you can work with the representative crystals and do some self-reflection on the emotional attributes associated with that Chakra. Sometimes self-awareness can help get the energy flowing again. For larger blockages or misalignments it is beneficial to get an energy healing, chakra balancing session or even chakra reading to help identify issues. Understanding the location, significance and symbols of each of the 7 main Chakras can give you a better understanding of yourself.

Spring is Here - Embrace it

3/5/2016

Picture
Picture

March is here! Spring is coming and that very short window of perfect weather is upon us. So stand up, put down the phone, walk away from the computer, disconnect from all electronics and promptly run to the nearest outdoor area….. well, maybe finish this blog first. In Arizona we really only get a very short period of time where the flowers are blooming the grass is green and it is not hot enough to cook breakfast on the sidewalk. It is so easy to get caught up in the day to day tasks and miss this golden outdoor time.Connecting with Mother Nature is not only enjoyable but it is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.

How many hours a day do you spend plugged into some form of electronic device? If you are anything like the average American that number is over 10 hours a day according to recent studies. Now ask yourself when was the last time you went outside just to be outside? When did you last stop and look around at the beauty of Mother Nature, focus on the wind in your hair or toss off your shoes and feel the earth with your feet? If the answer is “I can’t remember” then it is time to make a change.

Health Benefits of being Outdoors:
  • Vitamin D – spending time outdoors allows for us to soak up natural vitamin D. Vitamin D helps reduce inflammation, boosts your immune system and lowers risks of type 2 diabetes.
  • Stress Relief – Studies have shown that spending time outdoors naturally helps reduce stress levels. Part of this has to do with disconnecting from stress triggers such as work but more than that it is about connecting with our roots and letting everything else melt away.
  • Increased Focus – humans are pre-disposed to find things in nature intriguing. Trees, plants, grass, clouds, wind in the leaves etc. catch and hold our focus. This allows us to refresh our overactive brains and come back to tasks refreshed.
  • Better Sleep – Spending countless hours a day staring at computer screens and surrounded 24/7 by artificial lights negatively impacts our natural sleep cycles. It’s no wonder our bodies cycles get out of sync when we can have light at any time of the day. Spending time outdoors in natural sunlight can do wonders to help reset our internal sleep cycles.
  • Grounding – Spending time in direct physical contact with the earth helps to ground us. We spend so much time indoor and disconnected from the earth that spending even just a few minutes barefoot in the grass, sand, dirt can give us a soothing grounding connection.
Picture
Picture
I know it is hard to find time in our busy, over scheduled, constantly connected days to squeeze one more thing in so start small. Go spend 15 minutes outdoors and see what a difference it makes to your energy levels, stress, mood and overall mental, physical and spiritual health. There is nothing worse than looking up from your electronics to realize that it is now “oven-mitt-steering-wheel” weather. Don’t rob yourself of some much needed one on one time with Mother Nature. Take advantage of this lovely weather go visit the Boyce Thompson Arboretum, spend the day at the Desert Botanical Gardens or go for a hike. Whatever ways you enjoy connecting with the outdoors get up and do it.

Share with us your outdoor adventures, we would love to see pictures or hear stories of how you are connecting with nature.

What is Embracing Your Journey About?

2/2/2016

Picture

Embracing Your Journey. These words evoke many different meanings, feelings and ideas depending on who hears them. While it sounds like a wonderful goal, a catchy slogan, a novel idea when we actually break it down what are we talking about when we say Embracing Your Journey? What does Embracing Your Journey really mean?

To adequately express Embracing Your Journey we have to break it down first to what is this Journey we are trying to embrace. The Journey that we are all on is a very personal, specific experience unique to each of us. Our Journeys are made up of millions of little moments, choices, interactions and thoughts. They are swayed and influenced by those around us and the world. It is the good moments, the bad ones and everything in between. It is the path of self-discovery, exploration and growth that we all endeavor on whether consciously or not. We are all on a life long Journey from our first breath to our last and beyond. By embracing this Journey we can stop being just passengers along for the ride and start driving the car.
Picture

So how do we embrace this Journey? We start by loving and accepting where we are on our Journey. There is nothing wrong with striving for and anticipating the next step of our Journeys but by only looking forward we miss out on so much of the experience. In order to truly embrace the process you have to embrace where you are and where you have been not just where you are going. Understanding and accepting where you are at is key to finding where you want to go. By embracing your flaws, disappointments and missteps you can release yourself from them and identify the next steps to take so that you can grow past them. Truly looking back with an open heart and mind allows for you to see and appreciate how past struggles that seemed so insurmountable at the time were actually strengthening, preparing and steering you towards the next steps on your Journey. If we don’t embrace the past and the present, if we hold on to the doubt, worry and judgement of ourselves we risk creating road blocks and detours on our Journey. When we embrace where we have been we allow ourselves the freedom to move forward, to take control and appreciate the Journey ahead. We become active participants. We are able to evaluate and find the resources, tools and support that we need to continue forward on our Journey.

Tapping your way to a healthier you

10/9/2015

Picture
Have you ever heard of Tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Technique? It is an increasingly popular healing therapy. Even though it has been gaining popularity recently it is based on ideas that have been around for thousands of years. It is similar to acupuncture in that it encourages healing by stimulating the body’s meridians and the flow of energy. Tapping however does not utilize needles. Instead, as alluded to by it’s name, it is done by gently tapping the body on the tapping points which correspond with acupuncture points and meridian points. Tapping is a wonderful way to bring about not just physical healing but emotional healing as well. Stimulating the tapping points on the body helps you release blockages and bring about healing change. This amazing therapy is not just for humans. You can also use these techniques on your pets as well. Would you like to experience a tapping session or learn more about how to utilize this technique to help your pets? Come see Victoria Glod at the November 1st Embracing Your Journey Expo. She has been doing healing work and animal communication for over a decade and will be offering Tapping sessions, Spiritual Response Clearings, and Animal Communication sessions. She will also be giving an amazing free lecture “Tap Away Your Stress For You and Your Animal Companions”  at the Expo. It will be an experiential class on Tapping, which is one of her favorite stress management tools. She will talk about doing Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) for our animals.  It is surrogate tapping, and we  set the intention that we are tapping for them.  Then we simply tap on our own body points.  Come prepared to clear some issues - some of that excess baggage we all carry around.
You don’t want to miss this opportunity. If you can’t wait until November to see Victoria you can reach her at  [email protected] or 602-574-1928 or 602-285-1958.
