Eating healthy, being active and an overall awareness of what we are putting into our bodies has been a growing focus in our society over the last several years. It is amazing the resources and information we have to help us make more educated conscious decisions about what we are putting into our bodies and how these choices impact our overall wellbeing. With so much focus on making lifestyle changes like eating organic, vegetarian, gluten free or non GMO we often forget to look beyond what goes into our bodies and think about what we put on our bodies. Did you know that your skin is your largest organ? People tend to forget this important fact and while most of us cleanse and slather ourselves with skin care products how often do we take a close look at what goes into them? The amount of chemicals in our day to day skin care products is shocking. Fortunately for us the amazing Lola King has hand crafted a skin care product line that not only feels luxurious but is devoid of all of those harmful chemicals. As a certified aromatherapist from the Aromahead School of Aromatherapy she uses her extensive knowledge to help others through the use of natural products. Since she is not part of a large corporate model her products are unique and not something you will find anywhere else, plus she is able to offer them at an affordable price. Her company tagline is “Relax, breathe, & Renew” which encompasses the idea that we must take great care not only of our body, but our mind and spirit on a daily basis. She genuinely cares about providing a quality product that will help you as you embrace your mind, body, spirit journey. Make sure to come see her and her amazing offerings at the Nov. 1st “Embracing Your Journey Expo”. Dried herbs hang from the ceiling, swaying slightly in the gentle ocean breeze. The enticing scents of garlic and fresh baked bread swirl in the air as sunlight pours in and fills the kitchen with the glow of the afternoon sun. Gathered here in the heart of this rustic Italian home generations of women gather to share their wisdom and pass down age old traditions as giggling children weave in and out of parents legs and cling to apron strings. This is the vision that comes to mind when I think of Strega (Italian Witch). Loud, colorful and embracing family traditions. Arizona may be a long way from the Mediterranean but we are fortunate enough to have an amazing Strega available here locally. Psychic Sunny is a third generation Strega, Italian Witch. She has always been aware of her gifts but as a young child had to keep it hidden since gifts such as hers have not always been wildly accepted. At 19 she was taught to do all things Strega by her Aunt. However it was not until rather recently that Sunny publicly embraced her gifts. In 2009 she was encouraged by a powerful LA psychic to get out there and “be about her work” and that is what she has done. She has always felt that this is her birthright and can’t imagine not doing it. Among her many gifts is her unique version of pendulum readings. Sunny provides pendulum readings with the help of her late boyfriend, Ed, in the pendulum. It is a spirit guided pendulum reading making it a one of kind experience. Her talents don’t stop there though, she does Tarot readings, Runes, Oracle Cards, Energy Clearings and Reiki. Sunny is also a graduate of SWIHA (Southwest Institute of Healing Arts) and is a certified Master Life Coach. Her readings utilize all of her abilities and are not just your average reading as they also include a mini life coaching session for the person as well. Make sure to check out her website to stay in touch with Sunny and keep up to date on her new adventures, such as the several books she is working on and the amazing Expos and Fairs she will be featured at. It struggles against unseen obstacles as it slowly forces its way through the mud, rocks and muck as it strives to reach the sun. As the Lotus finally bursts through the muddy murky underworld of darkness it is plunged into a swirling new world of movement. The sun it strives to touch is still out of reach and a whole new set of challenges stand in its way. The Lotus perseveres as it battles the changing currents and the wildlife, still pushing onward and upward. It does not give up in its pursuit for the sun. As the Lotus continues to force its way up the muck and grime from its original struggles fall away, washed clean by the changing waters. At last the Lotus finally bursts free of the water to feel the first touches of sun upon its leaves, only to realize that this is not the end of its journey. The young Lotus is nothing more than a fragile, tightly bound bud that needs to embrace the sun to grow and unfold into its true potential. With determination, perseverance and faith the Lotus rises from the darkness and is able to bloom into a glorious blossom in the sun. Our journeys are often very similar to that of the Lotus. We start in the darkness striving to find which way is up as we reach for our goals. It is all too easy to become consumed in the darkness and lose our way. If we take the example of the Lotus and keep pushing through whatever obstacles come our way not only will we break through the darkness but we will be forced to become stronger. Without the struggle of breaking through the muck the Lotus would not have had the strength to battle the changing currents to reach its goal. Once our goals seem within reach the temptation to relax our focus, to allow other things to take priority, to slow down our drive is something we have all come across. We have made it through the challenge of getting out of the darkness and we want to take a breath and relax, but the obstacles don’t go away they just change. You may find that it is time to go with the flow and let your journey take the long way or that you have to stand against the moving current. Either way we have to remember to keep moving. Like the Lotus reaching our goal often seems like the end of our journey, we have overcome obstacles, grown strong, struggled and persevered. Reaching the “Sun” isn’t the end though it really is the beginning of- a whole new journey. Embrace the journey! Learn, grow and thrive as you show yourself what you can accomplish and once you have reached the goal look for where it is going to take you next. Let it feed you, inspire you and fill you with passion as you blossom into your higher level of awareness and understanding. |
